Its Objectives are to promote and coordinate target shooting competitive and recreational within Nigeria among the Armed forces, Law Enforcement Agencies, Qualified Civilian mindful of National security and providing sustainable international success for the nation.
Shooting at a mark (target) is both a sport and skill. Target shooting provides harmless-means of satisfying the desire of an individual to demonstrate superiority over others with emphasis on mental rather than physical characteristics.
The sport of shooting is among the most-disciplined of all sports as this competitive-marksmanship has a history of being one of the safest sports as serious-injury is not part of it and hitherto, there is no record of such incidence.
It is a sport practised on amateur-level only and a sport limited to that level is health and contributes to a reduction in anxiety as well as physical stress. The safety of fellow-competitors, range-officials and spectators is being achieved through strict adherence to simple but important rules and caution to firearm-handling .
